October Update of K007

Tushingham Sails 2006 Photo Shoot

The shoot is being staged in Egypt at the end of September, ready for the publishing of the 2006 brochure in November. The perfect photo conditions in Egypt should mean that I am able to get plenty of pictures, which will then gain lots of media exposure over the coming 12 months. Watch this space for some examples…

Instructional DVDs

Last week saw me heading out to Vasiliki on the Greek Island of Lefkas to take part in the filming of Peter Hart’s latest windsurfing DVD. Due to competition commitments I was only able to stay for 4 days but we still managed to fit in quite a bit of filming and I recorded enough to be included as a guest presenter. We stayed at the Neilson Beach Club in Vass, which was a perfect venue for filming, with a camera tower moored out on the water and all the kit rigged, only meters from the waters edge.

The Learn to Loop DVD that Peter and I filmed last year in Fuerteventura is almost ready for release. It is expected to sell like hot cakes, if the pre-production demand is anything to go by.

I have just returned home from the UK Wavesailing championships, which were held at Bigbury Beach in Plymouth over the last weekend. Unfortunately the wind was never strong enough for official competition, although we did run a light wind wave riding comp, in which I placed 2nd, and had I not been doing an interview with BBC TV when the green flag went up I think I could have won it!! BBC TV South West broadcasted their evening Sports program from the beach, with interviews and coverage of the event including some excellent footage from last year’s very windy event.

By the time you read this I will have competed in the UK Freestyle and Super X finals in Poole Harbour. There is a promising forecast so hopefully we will get some good competition. I am focussing on the Super X discipline but will also be aiming for a top position in freestyle.

The next event after Poole is the Tiree Wave Classic, which is incorporating the UKWA Triple Crown event. This event is massive and BBC Scotland has already signed up to film an hour-long program from the event. More news on this in next months LTS.

Major National mainstream media coverage - SLICE

Slice is a national promotional magazine that is sent out with takes away pizza deliveries all over the UK. Pizza Hut Restaurants are the main distributors of this magazine. This magazine goes out to well over 3 million people. A wide cross section of the UK population order take away pizzas, especially young people, so this is prime time coverage – Getting windsurfing straight into the minds (and stomachs) of the UK population.

John Hibbard the voice of the Indoor Event

The September issue of BOARDS Magazine contains free promotional DVD giving information about the PWA Indoor windsurfing competition that is to be held at the London Boat Show in January. I was chosen as the main commentary voice on the DVD and I also appear in the footage.
