NCI visits RNLI Exmouth

Last night our newly qualified watchkeepers or those still under training were given an insight into our Search and Rescue partners' working: they had a very special tour of the RNLI Exmouth boat house and were shown both lifeboats. These insights into how our colleagues operate is vital to their training and allows our volunteers to meet the crews and get to know a little about their kit. We are very grateful to RNLI Exmouth to allow us to visit and continue to bridge bonds between our charities.
Here are our watchkeepers outside the main boat house with 13-03: our Exmouth Shannon.

New Watchkeeper is welcomed to our Crew

Congratulations to our newest recruit Jeremy E, who successfully passed his watchkeeper assessment and is now part of the NCI Exmouth watchkeeping family. Jeremy is seen here receiving his epaulettes from Chris W, one of the trainers, in our lookout.

Welcome aboard!

Local Patron gives weight to our charity

An article from one of our local Patrons, Judi Spiers has been published in last weeks edition of The Western Morning News. Page 23 (of the week commencing 16th of June) has been written by the local radio and TV personality highlighting the vital work of our volunteer watchkeepers and how we are “probably the most important search and rescue organisation that most have never heard of”.

Judi Spiers writes a column for the paper every week.

Open Day and Tower Re-opening

The NCI Exmouth open day and official re-opening of the refurbished Lookout, went ahead today, Thankfully the rain held off until we had finished.

The ceremony started with a few songs from the Exmouth Shanty Men, followed by a notice from the Town Crier then Peter (Station Manager) thanked everyone for their contributions. Judi Spiers, our patron said a few words, before she and the Deputy Mayor Dianne Conduit cut the ribbon and officially opened the lookout. It concluded with a piper playing us out, and Judi and Dianne cutting the cake.

Then the heavens opened up.

The lookout was closed for January and a complete refurbishment, with new furniture and having the electrics replaced.

A big thank you to everyone that turned out, and to our volunteers that turned up to help. Special thanks to Roger our fundraiser who organised the day and made it the success it was.
