Incident: Kite surfer reported to be in difficulty

At 10.25hrs Thursday 11th June our watchkeepers were contacted by His Majesty’s Coastguard following a report from a member of the public who reported seeing a kite surfer in difficulty. We were asked to use our optics to locate the casualty.

At 10.35hrs we conducted a search and confirmed the kitesurfer by his description and reported back to HMCG.

We were asked to monitor the situation. One kitesurfer and one wingsurfer were confirmed visible but were seen to not be in any difficulty.

We were asked to observe for the next ten minutes and report back.

After ten minutes, we contacted HMCG and confirmed that the kite and wing surfer were both capable and had in fact managed to make it back to shore.

HMGG thanked us for the update.
