Royal Navy conducting Exercises Mine Shape Target Lay
Notice is hereby given that that the Royal Navy will be conducting exercises as set out below from the 26 June – 5 July 2026.

11 Jun 2026 The Royal Navy will be conducting Exercise Mine Shape Target Lay in support of MCM Exercise SEABREEZE.
Exercise Dates:
26 June – 5 July 2026: 0800 – 1900 hours
Details:
• A total of 24 targets will be laid, comprising a mixture of ground and bottom shapes.
• 6 buoyant targets will be deployed, all at depths of at least 15 metres below the surface.
• The laying vessel will be SD HERCULES, sailing daily from HMNB Portland Port.
• All targets will be recovered after the exercise and cleared from the water by 5 August 2026.
• All targets are representative shapes with no explosive hazards.
Safety Notice:
Due to the weight of the moored contact targets (308 kg), there is a risk to life for single-manned vessels under 10 metres if trawled. Fishermen are strongly advised to exercise caution in the area.
