On Saturday 5th of July, NCI Exmouth Coastal and Water Safety (CWS) were invited by the Community Champion at Exmouth Tesco to have a CWS stand.
As this is a coastal store, where they sell inflatable kayaks, paddle boards and body boards. Exmouth Tesco’s Community Champion feels a great responsibility towards the shoppers who come in and buy these items and wants to make sure that they are doing as much as possible to get safety messages across with the sales of these item’s.
Many were spoken to during the day and the safety information was well received.
We gave out about 70 Maritime and Coastguard Agency children’s booklets along with wristbands , colouring sheets, stickers, NCI safety leaflets, phone pouches and Channel 65 beer mats.
We also put NCI paddleboard and kayak leaflets and waterproof craft stickers on all the boxes of paddleboards that were put out for sale by the store.
A Tesco representative was dressed as a shark and gave out balloons and lollipops to encourage the children to come over to us and learn about water and coastal safety.
