Incident: Request to help search for missing person

On Thursday 28th May at 16.36, NCI were asked by Police to keep a lookout for a missing female (description given) in vicinity and call 999 if spotted. Information conveyed by NCI to RNLI Lifeguards for additional assistance.

Incident: Male stranded on Pole Sands

At 11.30 NCI were monitoring a male on Pole Sands with incoming tide.
At 11.38 The Male attempted to swim to shore.

Call received from HMCG requesting update, following call from MoP
Passing RIB picked up casualty and took him to shore, just as ILB tasked.
Confirmed situation to HMCG and all stood down.

Children buried in sand

15.09 NCI Observed parent burying two children chest-deep in wet sand, Advised Lifeguards

Continued to observe as children extricated with difficulty

Family left beach as one child had injury

At 16.30 Lifeguards delayed, but arrived to follow up.

Swimmers in Difficulty

14.58 NCI Observed four swimmers struggling in current at no.10 buoy and notified RNLI Lifeguards.

15.00 Two swimmers safely reached shore. .

RNLI PWC arrived on scene and escorted other two ashore

Kite Surfer in difficulty

16.00 NCI Called RNLI Beach Lifeguards to alert them to Kite surfer with tangled rig attempting to paddle against incoming tide and failing to make any headway.

16.05 Lifeguards on PWC approached casualty..

At 16.14 Kite surfer safely ashore by own means.

Incident: Concern for object in estuary

At 14.15 Report received of suspected ordnance spotted in estuary by Member of Public.
14.45 Photographs supplied from MoP which NCI endeavoured to obtain sighting using CCTV. This proved impossible on incoming tide.
15.20 NCI Contacted HMCG with full details.
16.00 HMCG confirmed they will take necessary action via CRT

Incident: Concern for Kite Boarder

12.00 NCI asked by CG for confirmation of location of kite surfer reportedly in difficulty one mile off shore.
12.05 Unable to obtain sighting using CCTV and optics.
12.15 ILB tasked to scene
12.21 Casualty picked up and returned to safety

Incident: NCI guided Ambulance to Casualty

18.31 Call received from HMCG requesting directions for SW Ambulance to attend casualty on beach.

18.32 Location confirmed and relayed to ambulance by CG

18.35 Ambulance seen en route to casualty

18.38 Updated CG accordingly.

Incident: Cabin Cruiser Aground

13.06 Following a call from HMCG, NCI conducted CCTV and optics search for cabin cruiser reportedly aground on Dawlish Warren at low tide.

13.30 Vessel located and reported back to HMCG

13.40 Dawlish CRT on scene

13.57 ILB launched and standing by until vessel safe

14.30 Vessel refloated and escorted under own power to mooring

16.30 ILB transported crewman from cruiser to the mariner and returned to boathouse

Very deep hole being dug

At 12.45 NCI Observed boys digging dangerously deep hole in sand and alerted Lifeguards who attended scene and spoke with boys.

At 13.05 The Boys partly filled the hole and left the scene.
